Morning Philosophy

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

— Micah 6:8 (NIV)

Three disciplines, not three options — justice without mercy hardens into tyranny, mercy without justice dissolves into sentiment, and both without humility curdle into pride. A cadet training for command will be tempted to master only the first, the visible machinery of justice and order; the humility is the harder, quieter discipline that keeps power honest. Today, let your decisions be exact, your dealings with subordinates be generous, and your posture before the mission be low rather than lordly.

Question for the DayWhere today will you choose mercy over the satisfaction of being technically right?

Daily Leadership Lesson

A leader who only recognizes top performers teaches the rest of the team that steady, reliable work goes unseen.

Today, publicly acknowledge one person whose consistent, unglamorous effort usually goes unmentioned.

Journal Memory

“I think that I had really showed my dominance in arguing and studying for things that I love doing when I did the SFFA case. I began asking questions and nobody knew the answer to them and so they all resorted to just calling the questions dumb expect for a select few. They love to make fun of the questions and work I put into this stuff but then beg me for the information so they don’t have to do any work and I’m tired of that shit. I didn’t however stick to my meal plan very well so I’ll be paying for it with a 400 cal. Defict tomorrow to make up for it, so no breakfast. I am getting better at typing faster and making these move faster. Some days, especially those when they were very uneventful I don’t want to spend much more than 5 minutes an entry. Just one things to wrap my day up and review the things that I did well, I didn’t get done, and the things I will have to get done tomorrow. For the most part I did good today and I am becoming a better wrestler. I’m going to continue to practice that stuff and compete for spots of become better. I’m also going to work to make my diet better because I want to start losing this weight a little faster. I want to be down to 180-185 in…”
